GALETTE DES ROIS... WHO'S THE BEAN FOR?

Have you ever dreamed once in your life of being a King or a Queen for a moment? Well in France it is possible and it happens precisely on the Epiphany’s day (in Greek "apparition"), whose original date is January 6, a Christian holiday that commemorates the visit of the Three Kings to the child Jesus. This happens every first Sunday of January (unless it falls on January 1st).

But let's move on to the biblical side and focus on the gastronomic side. Because if this holiday is important for believers, it is also very much anchored for the gastronomic believers.

On this occasion, we rush to his best neighbourhood bakery to buy the famous “Galette des Rois”. Some people prefer frangipane and almond paste, and others candied fruit brioche but basically something really matters in the heart of the French: have the bean and become the king or the queen.

A "PROVENCAL" CHRISTMAS - TRADITIONS AND CHILDHOOD MEMORIES

Another year has passed and Christmas is fast approaching. Memories. Back to France. Traditions and memories...

France is a country rich in traditions and traditions vary according to the regions. Today, I will focus on Provence, where I grew up and where Christmas is a cherished holiday in the hearts of the inhabitants.

IS THE FRENCH WOMAN FEMINIST?

The 8th of March was International Woman’s Day and this year I must tell you that I was in two minds about the idea of this day. Not that I am not for valuing women and being reminded that women are still victims of inequalities in our “modern” societies but rather because I am sad to notice that we need a day each year to remember that as women we are a part of this world. Shouldn’t we extend this day to the other 364 days of the year?

A DATE? DO YOU KNOW THAT FRENCH DON'T DATE?

How are relationships in Melbourne made between men and women?

When I came to Australia I was single, ready to explore the Australian world of singles and let me be very honest with you to enjoy this period of my life. So I used this time of my life as a period of research and investigation to understand the complexity of a relationship.

MY 10 TOP PLACES IN FRANCE (Part 1)

It was at 16 years old that I really discovered France and all the superb landscapes that it offered. At this age I was with a boyfriend a little bit older who could drive and then we decided one summer under my mum’s full supervision of course to do a Tour de France by car (we didn’t have bikes!). So we set off in a Citroën AX to explore our douce France (sweet France).

At this moment, I understood that travelling would be a part of my life.

PARIS MON AMOUR

Ah Paris, seeing Paris again always makes me feel good, city that I’ve been desperately in love with for years. However it’s in Marseille where I grew up, second largest city in France in the South, capital of soccer, in eternal “foot-ballistic” competition with Paris, a strong rivalry that I have to admit sometimes becomes ridiculous. Parisians always envy our sun that they come to borrow in summer, grumbling about our occasional casualness and a bit about the “show-off” attitude.

THE FEMININE FRENCH TOUCH

I found back an old article that I wrote for the magazine French Provincial almost 2 years ago. I wanted to share with you my vision about the Feminine French touch that I love to see and appreciate more and more very day. Because we all need more and more femininity in this world.

A woman always fascinates people by her energy, her sensuality, her power of nurture, and her beauty. As a French woman I try to cultivate this part of femininity by analysing women… And today, I especially want to focus on the enchantment that provokes French women.

FRENCH PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS

In the news over the past few months, or more recently in Australia, you have certainly noticed the importance that politics generates for French people, and with good reason…

2016 and 2017 have been full of rebounds in politics especially with the Presidential elections but also due to the multiple terrorist attacks that have impacted the hearts of French people even on the other side of the planet.

ELEGANCE OF THE HEART

“Without elegance of the heart, there is no elegance.” Yves Saint-Laurent

A recent event in my life made me think about a topic dear to my heart that I like to call the “elegance of the heart” and more precisely between women. Quickly, I sadly noticed that some women have the bad habit of judging each other, gossiping, telling lies, always wanting to be in competition with other women. Let me tell you something, IT IS JUST SO INELEGANT, a perfect way to “unlady” yourself.
